How to Modify Switchvox Switchboard Notification Settings

In Switchboard, you can set up and modify how you are sent certain notifications. Below are steps and definitions of the different options.

Set Up

Log onto the Switchboard and click the gear icon (settings) in the upper right hand corner.

This displays the Notifications menu for the notification types with pull-down boxes to select Desktop, Sounds, and Page display options for each type.

The option box Make Calls With (at the bottom left of the screen) allows you to indicate an additional phone as the call source, such as a softphone or cellphone.

Notification Type

The six notification types are Voicemail, Incoming Call, Missed Call, Queue Threshold, Chat Message, and Video Type.

Desktop

This display option enables visual notifications on the Switchvox web browser page. The options are as follows:

  • Always. Notifies you regardless of the status of your Switchboard. This means you can have it open, in the background, another program on top of it, viewing a different tab, etc., and it will still log the notification.

  • Only when not focused. Only notifies you when the current Switchboard window is not in front (not focused). This includes having another program running over the Switchboard window or having another browser tab open and being on that tab.

  • Never. Never logs the notification.

Make your selections, then SAVE. Click the bell icon in the upper right side of the Switchboard to display your notifications.

Sounds

The settings plays an audible sound through your computer's speakers, or headphones attached to your computer.

  • Always. Plays a sound regardless of the status of the Switchboard. This means you can have it open, in the background, another program on top of it, viewing a different tab, etc., and it will always play a sound for the desired notification.

  • Only when not focused. Only plays a sound when the current Switchboard window is not open. This includes having another program running over the Switchboard window or having another browser tab open and being on that tab.

  • Never. No sound is played.

Page

This option displays a pop-up box on the right side of your screen to show you have an incoming call.

Note: often a browser will ask for permission to display this. If you select no, you will not see the pop-up message.

  • Yes. Displays the pop-up message.

  • No. Does not display the pop-up message.

Make Calls With

The Make Calls With setting allows you to indicate an additional phone to set up as the call source, such as a softphone or cellphone. When selected, enter a number into the Enter a number box on the Switchboard and press Dial. The Switchvox will call this phone, wait for you to answer, then connect the call to the number you entered. This allows your calls to appear as though they are coming from your office extension, even if you are remote.
