How to Reinstall the Switchvox software
PROCESS FOR REINSTALLING YOUR SWITCHVOX SOFTWARE
When presented with the need to reinstall your PBX software you will need to do the following.
Â
System Backup
First we will need to take a full backup of your system. (BE SURE TO MAKE A NOTE OF THE CURRENT SOFTWARE VERSION). If you are not able to access your system to do a backup then and older backup that you have downloaded will suffice but you may lose more recent data.
Backups can be performed by logging into the PBX web admin. (https://IP.of.your.PBX/admin). Select Machine → Backups → Create a Backup. Backup creation may take several minutes and should not affect any current calls in your system. After you click the "Create Backup" button, you will be directed to a wait screen while the backup file is created.
Warning: The backup process may take several minutes depending on the amount of content. Do not click any links or buttons during the backup processing.
After the backup is created, the Backups page is displayed with the new backup in the Backups table. Click on Download to save the backup (which may include multiple files). Be sure to put it in a location from which it can be easily accessed to restore your system.

Software Installation
Next we will begin the software installation.
You can install the software from the CD that was supplied with the system or we can create an ISO for you to download and burn to CD.
Insert the CD that came with your PBX into the CD-ROM drive. If your unit does not have a CD-ROM drive, you'll need an external USB CD-ROM drive. If you get prompted to choose a driver for the external CD-Rom drive, choose USB storage driver for Linux.
Next, boot up the PBX. The first prompt you see should ask you to press ENTER to begin the install. This will also format the Hard Drive on the PBX, go ahead and press ENTER.
The next prompt will ask for timezone, go ahead and choose your timezone.
The PBX will go through it's automated installation processes, it will reboot. When the PBX boots back up, it will ask for it's network information. Go ahead and enter this or choose DHCP.
The PBX will restart networking and apply the changes. The next step is to log into the web admin for the PBX to register the PBX.
Â
Product Registration
You will need to register your PBX with the same registration code that was previously used.
Go to https://<IPofyourPBX>/admin and log in with 'admin' for both the username and the password fields. Then go to Machine Admin -> Product Registration. Enter your registration information here, it does not have to match up with any account information. Be sure to enter 4 characters in each field for the registration code, remember to enter the registration code in uppercase.
When your PBX is registered, it's time to update (if needed) to the same version your backup file was created on. If you're unsure, the filename of the backup file should contain the version number you want to update to.
SVBACKUP_2009-12-11-15-42-6_18775-214-business.svb
In the example file name above, 18775 is the version number.
To see the updates available for your system go to Machine Adminà Updates.
After you're on the same version as the backup file, it's time to upload the backup. Go to Machine Admin -> Backups. Choose 'Upload A Backup'. Browse to your backup file and upload.
Once the backup has been restored, be sure that the Switchvox is functioning as expected:
Go to Diagnostics -> System Status to see if your phones or any VoIP providers are registered.
Check the Current Version to make sure that this update was applied.
Make a call from a Switchvox extension to another extension, and to an external phone number.
If possible, make a call into Switchvox (e.g., from a mobile phone), and ensure that your main IVR is responding normally.
