IMG 1010 - TDM Span - 10.5.x
TDM Span 10.5.x (Signaling or Bearer)
Description:
In software 10.5.0 the procedure on how to create and configure a Span/DS-1 on the Bearer and Signaling interfaces was modified. In software versions previous to 10.5.0, a span profile was created under each individual DS-1. Starting in software version 10.5.0 the span profile is created first under the Profiles global object. Once the profile has been created, it can then be linked to the DS-1 through a drop down menu within the object pane. The information below explains how to create and configure the TDM Span. The procedure is the same when creating either a Signaling or Bearer Span.

Local Loop-back- Loops back transmit and receive on that individual Span/Offset so that a far end piece of equipment can send a test such as a BERT test towards the local IMG. The Span/Offset LED on the front panel of IMG 1010 will blink orange when the offset is in local loop-back mode. Remote loopback is NOT supported on T1/E1 spans.
Note: When a Span/Offset is placed into loop-back mode, the Span Status in the Object Table Tab will indicate the Span/Offset is Out Of Service. Following the test you must manually put the span back in service. Select the Span/Offset from the Object Table Tab that is Out Of Service. Once selected, right-click and select In Service from drop down menu. This will bring span back into service. Refer to the topic for more information on this process.
