Why is there a 4 second delay after a keypress?
You might be wondering why there is a four second delay after you enter a keypress in your AutoAttendant menu and the time that the intended submenu greeting plays.
This delay is happening because you have pressed a keypress option that’s the same as the starting digit of one of the extensions (or voicemail group numbers) on your system. The delay is the system waiting for additional digits.
For example, If you have extensions in the 1xx 2xx and 3xx ranges, you will not be able to use the keypress digits 1, 2, or 3 in any of your call menus without the delay.
If you want to eliminate the delay, renumber your extensions using number ranges that do not start with any number you wish to use in a call menu. Another solution is to simply use different digits in your call menu.
