A more lengthy explanation follows:
Fonality is an IP PBX phone vendor. We make a phone system ("server") that connects to your existing Local Area Network and provides PBX functionality via your LAN using Voice-over-IP technology.
We are not a networking equipment manufacturer or consultant. Per our Terms of Service, we do not assist customers with the installation, configuration or maintenance of networking equipment.
By way of comparison, consider Fonality like Sony. Sony makes TVs for your house, but Sony will not support your Cable box or Satellite dish. Your TV gets television service from the Cable Company or from the Satellite Company. If your TV cannot display channels, you might call Sony, and Sony will assist you with troubleshooting your television. If Sony Support determines that everything is ok with your television, they will direct you to contact your Cable Company or Satellite Company for further assistance.
Fonality Support Technicians will do the same thing regarding your Internet service. If Fonality Support can definitively prove that there is no problem with the Fonality phone system, but you are unable to use the system due to an Internet issue, Fonality Support will direct you to your Internet Service Provider or your local IT Consultant.
While Internet service is a requirement for any VoIP-based product to function, the Internet service itself is a product that you purchase from a different company. Therefore, Fonality Support Technicians have no administrative authority over your Internet service or your network. By contrast, Fonality Technicians have administrative authority over your Fonality phone system - they can log in and make changes, or walk you through making changes.
Because Fonality Support has no control over your Internet service or the networking equipment installed at your office, we cannot be responsible for modifications to said equipment. Fonality doesn't sell networking equipment for this same reason. Selling a product implies liability for the functionality of that product. We choose not to sell networking equipment because it's not part of our business model.
