Open Source - How to create a sound file?

A sound file can play a custom greetings, announcement, or provide information.

To add a new sound, select Sound from the Add New dropdown and click Go

  1. Select Tools -> Media -> Sound Manager.

  2. From the Create list, select Sound and then click Go.

  3. Enter a sound file name.

  4. Adding a complete sound description/script helps later when building IVRs.

  5. From the Sound Source dropdown list, choose either to Record Over Phone or Upload File.

  6. Navigate to a sound file or enter a phone extension to ring.

    • If ringing to a phone, answer and record your message. (TIP: After recording your message, press the # key to stop the recording, then hung up.)

    • Click the Done button, in the recording popup message.

  • Click the Save Sound button.

NOTE 1: Did the sound fail to record, when ringing to an extension? Re-record again ensuing that you press the # key, hand up, select Done, and then click Save Sound, in this specific order.
NOTE 2: Notating the file location and name helps later when selecting the sound file.
