Business Voice - StarWatch Monitoring Guide

Overview

StarWatch continually monitors all Customer Locations and sends notifications/alert emails when certain conditions occur. The alert emails are sent to the Channel Partner on record as well as any Customer contacts.

StarWatch monitors the following system elements for all Customer Locations:

  • Registration status (every five minutes)

  • WAN Interface connectivity when switching between primary and secondary interfaces

A StarWatch Critical Alert email is sent when any of the following conditions occur for a Customer Location:

  • Offline for more than a few minutes (unreachable for two consecutive polling cycles) because of a power/Internet outage, etc. Calls cannot be sent to or from the location via the Internet until the condition is resolved.

  • Loses internet connectivity on the primary WAN interface

After the registration failure or primary WAN interface is restored, a StarWatch Info Alert is sent.

The following alert types are generated with the StarBox® Voice Optimized SD-WAN and Customer information displaying at the bottom of the alerts:

Contacts

Channel Partners are included on the StarWatch alert email distribution list for all of their Customer Locations. The Primary Customer and additional contacts can be specified in the portal to receive StarWatch alert emails.

To add contacts to receive StarWatch alert emails:

  1. Access the portal and select the Configuration menu at the top of the page.

  1. From the View/Edit section, enter the first few characters of the Location (customer’s account name or Location number) in the View/Edit an existing location field. From the drop-down list, select the appropriate Location.

  1. From the Phone System Configuration page and Basic Settings section, select the Additional Location Information link.

  1. In the Additional Contacts section, complete the applicable fields for the contact.

  1. To populate additional contact fields, click Plus Sign (+).

  1. When finished, click Save Changes.
