Business Voice - Clone Extension
This feature provides the ability to "Clone" a specific Local extension as many times as selected. A good Use Case for this feature is to build the various extension/user types you require first, including all settings e.g. International Dialing, Outgoing CallerID, Expansion Modules, Extension Type e.g. Office Worker/Cubicle (Polycom® VVX® 300), Supervisor (Polycom® VVX® 400), Manager (Polycom® VVX® 500). Once these basic extension types are built as a template they can be "Cloned" as many times as you like. If you define the names for the extensions to match the role e.g. (Office Worker, Manager, Executive) when you select "Clone" the system appends "Clone" and a sequence number to the extension selected. This makes it easier to remember the extension types (rather like a template).
(Note)
The following extension types can not be cloned.
Remote Phones (because of E911 addresses)
Softphones (because they need users associated)
Multi-extension devices (because they take up ports)
Care should be taken when selecting large numbers of extension to be "Cloned" (deletion is manual)
The feature is for use on local extensions only
If you edit an extension please make sure you "Save" that change if you subsequently want to "Clone" it
Step1: Build extension types to be cloned.
Step 2: Clone the Extension.
Click "Edit" on the extension you wish to "clone".
Click "Clone Extension"
Enter # required).
Click OK.
Step 3. Edit, Rename and further edit the cloned extensions.
