Microsoft's ISA Server 2006 & HUD3
Microsoft's ISAÂ Server 2006 / 2004 product requires some custom configuration in order to allow HUD3 to work properly within your environment.
Â
What is ISA 2006?
Read about the product details. Essentially this product acts as a firewall and proxy server all in one. If your organization does not have this particular model of ISA Server, the instructions below may be slightly different in order to custom configure your ISA Server to work properly with HUD3.
What is the primary issue?
Default ISA Server 2006 installations will not work with HUD3 because the ISA server will not allow an outbound SSL/secure connection on port 8080. ISA Server 2006 is configured to allow outbound SSL requests on port 443 by default.
How does HUD3 operate?
HUD3 makes an outbound SSL/secure connection to your PBXtra on port 8080 for authentication. After authentication, HUD3 client uses TCP port 5222 to communicate with HUD3 server.
How do I configure ISAÂ 2006 to work with HUD3?
The ISAÂ 2006 GUIÂ does not contain an option for setting up a custom SSLÂ "allow" statement for port 8080.Â
You will need a tool in order to setup this rule.
Â
You can download the tool here: http://www.isatools.org/tools/ISAtrpe.zipÂ
Once you have the tool downloaded, you should read the following article about setting up the custom SSLÂ statement:
http://www.isaserver.org/articles/2004tunnelportrange.htmlÂ
Install the ISAtrpe tool you downloaded above on the ISA Server 2006 and setup the custom statement to allow outbound SSL/secure connections on port 8080.
Â
HUD3 should now be able to work properly within your LAN.
