How to create a Ring All call rule

A Ring All call rule can simultaneously rings up to 3 extensions or external phone numbers. This can be very helpful for users traveling between multiple locations.

  1. From the Switchvox admin, select Setup -> Extensions -> Manage.

  2. Select the extension you would like to modify and click Login as this User.

  3. From the webtools page, select Features -> Call Rules and select Create Call Rule Set.

  4. Enter a Rule Set Name, then select Save Call Rule Set.

  5. Click the Create Action button, then select Ring All.

  6. For the Ring All Options:

    • Select whether you want to affect all calls, direct calls, or queue calls.

    • Search for extension numbers or input external numbers that you would like to ring.

    • If you want the Call Rule to ring without delay, select Immediately for the number of times to ring previous rule. (NOTE: When selecting Immediately, then Ring Hints are ignored.)

    • Enabling Attempt to preserve Caller ID forwards caller ID. (NOTE: When enabled, this option may cause some external calls to fail. Some Cellular providers do not like this options. Set to NO if external calls fails to connect.)

  7. Select Save action.

  8. Navigate back to the Call Rules list and raise your new call rule upwards. Calls are process beginning with the first (top) call rule. If this call rule is placed at the top, of your call rule list, then any calls that match the call type you selected will ring all numbers at the same time.

NOTES:

  • If you ring a Switchvox extension (local or peered), that extension's call rules are ignored.

  • A Ring All action must include your main extension if you want that phone to ring.

  • If you need to ring more than 3 phones, you may set up subsequent Ring All actions that ring those additional phones. In this case, the first set of phones ring, and then the second set of phones ring.
