How do I setup an Expansion Module EXP150M for use with a D65 and Switchvox?

A Switchvox SIP extension can be configured with a Digium IP Phone D65 (only this model currently) and an EXP150 expansion module (up to 6 expansion modules can be linked to one D65 IP Phone). Please note in order to use this feature the PBX is required to be on software version 7.3 or later.

In Switchvox, under Setup > Extensions, create or modify a SIP Phone extension and navigate to the Phone Settings tab. In the Digium Phones tab, under the Contacts section, you can indicate

  • The extension's D65 uses an expansion module (or several)

  • Each expansion module should use 1 or 2 pages of rapid dial keys. If you enable paging to a second page, there are arrow buttons at the bottom of the module that move back and forth to pages 1 and 2.

If you are using an expansion module, you cannot enable line keys for rapid dial on the phone. All rapid dial items are displayed on the expansion module(s) only.

For the D65 phone and the first expansion module, be sure that the expansion module's ethernet cable is plugged into the phone PC port and the uplink port on the module, and the power cord is plugged into a power supply.

For subsequent expansion modules, the modules 2-6 should have the ethernet plugged into the previous module's downlink port and it's own uplink port, and power plugged into a power supply for each module.

Important: the phone's PC Port VLAN ID must be blank, otherwise the expansion module does not work. Be sure there is not a value in this field. This is found in Switchvox in a SIP phone extension's Phone Settings; Advanced Settings; PC Port VLAN. Or, on the phone itself under Network Settings; VLAN Settings.
