How do I Create a Different Ringtone for Certain Incoming Calls?

To setup a distinctive Ring Tone for certain types of incoming calls go to Tools > IVR Editor and Create IVR Menu.

  1. Set your name and description for the IVR.

  2. Create IVR Action 

  3. In IVR set ActionSet Distinctive Ring Hint (variable name)

  4. Enter a Distinctive Ring Hint manually 

  5. Save Settings

 

Login to the extension, go to Features > Phone Features > Ring Rules > Create Ring Rule:

  1. Ring Rule Name (anything you want to label it)

  2. Ring Type: Standard Ring

  3. Ringtone: select a ringtone from the list.

  4. Save Ring Rule

 

Create Ring Rule Condition

  1. Ring Hints

  2. Type in Ring Hint set in the Set Distinctive Ring Hint Action in the IVR.

  3. Click on plus sign

  4. Save Condition

Note: The Ring Rule Condition can be for a type of call (such as direct, queue or internal), one or more specified extension numbers (SIP or Virtual), or specified Caller IDs or a Ring Hint set in an IVR.

 

Now, place a test call and verify that the ring hint is working.
