What If My SIP Provider Doesn't Require Authentication?

Some SIP providers do not require you to authenticate your connection to their servers with a username and password. These most often base the connection request off of your location's IP address. Having the SIP provider set to 'Provider' when they don't require authentication will cause them to show as 'Rejected' in 'Server' > 'Connection Status' > 'VOIP Providers'. 

 

In the admin interface of the Switchvox navigate to 'Setup' > 'VOIP Providers' > 'Create SIP Provider' button (if you haven't set it up yet) or modify (pencil icon) next to the provider if they have already been setup > 'Peer Settings' tab > change the 'Host Type' to 'Peer' instead of 'Provider' > 'Save SIP Provider' at the bottom.  

 

**NOTE: Switchvox may still prompt you to enter an account ID and password on the 'Provider Information' tab, however with this set to peer it does not send this information to the SIP provider.
